Oliver Herring

Oliver Herring is very open-ended and impromptu. His pieces are said to lead you to the unexpected and unpredictable. I like this about Herring and I like the fact that he re-uses his materials from project to project. Its like his way of art is almost like his way of making new friends, he says that hes looking for that personal connection with a stranger, he often doesn't know when or how it happens but when it does, thats the moment that he is trying to capture.

Reza Abedini

Although there is a clear language barrier between some viewers and Reza Abedinis pieces, I'm sure that it is undoubtedly appealing to everyone. Theres something about the the fluidity and smoothness in his lettering that lets you know what he has to say is probably just as enjoyable as the way it looks. I like the negative white spaces he chooses, and the way he puts his text off to the sides and not always in the middle is different but in a much better way. The way that he strategically places text on other images provokes thought which is good to have for any viewers attention.

Artura Herrera

What I like about Arturo Herrera is that he uses chance to create his pieces and it seems like he has a deep appreciation for the process of creating his piece before actually arriving at the final piece, process over product. This reminds me about the DADA artists and the Beats artists. He talks about ambiguity and how "life is made of just connecting things." I really like his idea of chance and his collages, with chance comes these abstractions that he produces and leaves open ended for his viewers, but stills holds them close to him for their meaning towards him.

Tom Scott

In the few minutes that we briefly went over Tom Scott it took no longer than the first couple of images to be intrigued. I spend a lot of the time at the beach and have often seen the sand make some pretty wonderful abstractions and thought nothing of it. It's nice to see what other people like Tom Scott see when they look at these images in the sand. What is interesting about Scotts photographs is that when the thought of abstract images comes along I get a sense of busyness;a lot of things going on in your mind because its abstract, but the sand just being as it is has this calmness and subtlety to it. It's a nice contrast.

"Brotherhoods our rule we cannot bend.."

My book is possibly going to be about the many memories that my brothers and I share. From growing up and moving our separate ways to traveling to just doing what we love to do, no matter what the occasion is we always have a good time. Currently we are each at a different stage in life and don't get to see each other much because we live in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Hawaii. I thought it would be nice to create something that I can always have to reflect on. I also thought that it would be pretty cool thing for my brothers to enjoy. Another idea that I had is taking pictures of the few beaches that I love going to, and incorporating writings that I have done along with song lyrics into the pages of my book.
